Stellan Skarsgård is stepping into a whole new spotlight at Cannes 🎬✨
For the first time ever, the acclaimed actor joins the Cannes Film Festival jury — meaning he’ll spend two intense weeks watching around twenty competing films and helping decide who takes home the coveted Palme d’Or 🏆
Although he’s been to Cannes many times before, Skarsgård admits he’s rarely had time to actually watch films there beyond his own. That’s about to change. Now, he says, the chance to dive into a full lineup of “hopefully great films” is exactly what convinced him to say yes.
But it won’t just be glamour and red carpets. He’ll be based at the Hôtel Majestic near the festival palace, immersed in screenings, debates, and tough decisions alongside a star-studded jury led by filmmaker Park Chan-wook and including names like Demi Moore and Chloé Zhao.
Among the films he’ll judge is “Fjord,” featuring Renate Reinsve — an extra twist, since she previously played his daughter on screen.
